Difference Between Different Kinds of Bread Makers

Bread machines range from very simple to very complex. Your first thought may be that simple is better, but that isn't always the case. A simple machine may allow you to just dump in your ingredients (or mix), push a button or two and walk away. However, a more complex and possibly better machine will allow you to make more choices as to how you want your bread to be made.

There are bread machines available that will allow you to choose how your bread is cooked based on what kind of bread it is. White bread shouldn't be cooked exactly the same way as wheat bread. Wheat bread shouldn't be cooked exactly the same way as French bread. If you have a simple machine, you have no choice and all of your bread will be cooked the same regardless of what kind it is. You're better off if you have one of the more complex machines that lets you adjust settings based on what kind of bread you're making.

Some machines will also let you make adjustments for what kind of crust you want. Maybe you want a crisp crust or maybe you want it to be soft so you can use it for sandwiches. Maybe you want it to be a dark, golden brown or maybe you like it lighter. With the more simple machines, again, you have no choice in how your bread comes out.

Yeast isn't actually supposed to be added to the machine with all the other ingredients. Ideally, it should go in a little later. With most bread machines, everything goes in at the same time. You can get machines, however, that will add the yeast at just the right time all by themselves. This makes for bread the raises better and ultimately tastes much better.

Simple isn't always better. Sometimes a more complex bread maker is the better choice because it gives you options that a more simple machine can't. In the end, you get better bread when you have more options.
